Born in Amstetten/Lower Austria, raised in Vienna. Studied double bass at Musikhochschule Vienna. Besides playing classical chamber music and contemporary music, he was a regular member of the Niederösterreichische Tonkünstler symphony orchestra as well as of the Vienna Philharmonic, which he left in 1998. Since then, he has been one of the busiest bass players in the Austrian jazz scene, performing and recording with Archie Shepp, Agnes Heginger, Klaus Dickbauer, Thomas Gansch, Wolfgang Muthspiel, Triology, Bass Instinct, Beni Schmid, Zipflo Weinrich, Jasper van`t Hof, Charlie Mariano, Kenny Wheeler, Kenny Wollesen a.o. Regular member of the Vienna Art Orchestra. He got the Austrian Hans Koller jazz prize twice: 2002 for the best Jazz album ("Mauve" with Arkady Shilkloper & Alegre Corrêa), 2003 as “newcomer of the year”.
