Born in Moscow/Russia. Studied horn at the Gnesin music academy in Moscow, then was a member of the Bolshoi Theatre Orchestra and the Moscow Philharmonic Orchestra. As freelance musician, he started with the group Tri-O. From 1988 duo work with pianist Misha Alperin (1990 CD "Wave of Sorrow", ECM). Regular member of the Moscow Art Trio with Alperin and Sergey Starostin. He also played with the Vienna Art Orchestra, Lionel Hampton, Elvin Jones, Lew Soloff, Herb Ellis, Pierre Favre, Louis Sclavis, Rabih Abou-Khalil, Hans Kennel, Jon Christensen, Christian Muthspiel a.o. 1997 first horn solo album "Hornology", 2000 first alphorn solo album "Pilatus". "Mauve" with Alegre Corrêa and Georg Breinschmid was elected “best Jazz album of the year 2002" in Austria (Hans Koller jazz prize). 2004 soloist in the first performance of Daniel Schnyder's Concerto for Alphorn and Orchestra.
